Procurement SA, which sits in the Commercial and Procurement Branch, provides strategic leadership, policy direction and specialist expertise to support public authorities in delivering effective procurement outcomes. Its role is to help agencies achieve value for money, manage procurement risk, strengthen capability and leverage government purchasing power to deliver broader economic and social benefits for South Australia. Procurement SA also works in partnership with agencies, suppliers and key stakeholders to support efficient, transparent and accountable procurement practices across government.

Procurement SA is responsible for the South Australian Procurement Framework which provides a consistent, whole-of-government approach to procurement, establishing the mandatory requirements, policies and guidance that public authorities must follow when planning, sourcing, contracting and managing suppliers. The framework promotes probity, accountability, transparency and value for money while supporting government priorities such as economic development, participation of South Australian businesses, Aboriginal economic participation, social outcomes and sustainable procurement.
