PUBLIC HOUSING

Growing and regenerating public housing stock is essential to enable housing to be available for those South Australians in need now and into the future.

The State Government stopped the sale of public housing properties and is on track to deliver the biggest investment in public housing in decades, fast-tracking construction and delivering major updates and upgrades to existing homes through a range of programs and projects. These include:

  • Public Housing Improvement Program (PHIP) delivering new or modernising and upgrading existing homes in Adelaide and regional South Australia to support people experiencing homelessness.
  • Urban and asset renewal enabling the redevelopment of aged South Australian trust properties, making room for modern, more suitable family homes.
  • Building of additional new homes under other South Australian Housing Trust program, with significant investment made under the Better Neighbourhood Program, New Build Program and State Owned and Managed Indigenous Housing Program.
