SUPPORT FOR FIRST HOME BUYERS

Abolishing stamp duty for first home buyers

Stamp duty has been abolished for all first home buyers building or buying a new home.

The First Home Owner grant has also been extended to all eligible first home buyers.

As a result of these measures, a first home buyer who enters into a contract to purchase a new home valued at $750,000 on or after 6 June 2024 could receive relief of up to $50,000.

First home buyers building a home may also be able to save thousands with a 2 per cent deposit home loan available through HomeStart.

Affordable housing

One of the key programs delivering more affordable homes is the State Government funded Affordable Housing Initiative. The government committed to build new affordable homes across Adelaide and make them exclusively available for eligible low-to-middle income households to purchase.

All the homes delivered through the initiative will be listed for sale on the HomeSeeker SA website and will be sold at a fixed price to eligible households.

HomeSeeker SA

HomeSeeker SA is a State Government initiative designed to reduce housing stress by helping more South Australians buy an affordable home or learn more about finding an affordable property to rent. The HomeSeeker SA website features easy to follow information about buying and renting a home, along with listings of affordable homes for sale.

To be eligible to purchase a fixed-price affordable home through HomeSeeker SA, you can now earn up to $110k as a single or $140k as a couple or family.
